Technology Development and Isotopes Production Group
Head of the group - Vladislav Yeganov Main objectives:
design and development of methods for monitoring the quality of radioisotopes;
design and creation of technical equipment for the production of 99mTc in the proton beam of the cyclotron C18;
mastering the production of 99mTc in the proton beam of the cyclotron C18;
studying of the possibility of production of a number of medical isotopes in the proton beam of the cyclotron C18, such as:
Gallium-67 (78 h),
Germanium-68 (271 d): Used as the 'parent' in a generator to produce Ga-68. Ep = 15-35 MeV, peak – 20 MeV 69Ga(p, 2n)68Ge - 300 mb,
Indium-111 (2.8 d): Used for specialist diagnostic studies, e.g. brain studies, infection and colon transit studies. Peak Ep = 20 MeV 112Cd(p, 2n)111In -700 mb
Iodine-123 (13 h): Increasingly used for diagnosis of thyroid function, it is a
gamma emitter without the beta radiation of I-131,
Palladium-103 (17 d) – Prostate cancer treatment , 103Rh(p, n)103Pd, Ep = 10MeV. 103Rh(p, n)103Pd - ~ 600 mb
